Colombia Service Bonus (Prima) Calculator
This calculator estimates your service bonus (prima de servicios) in Colombia. The service bonus is a social benefit equal to one full monthly salary per year: half a salary for each half-year worked. It is paid in two installments, the first no later than June 30 and the second within the first twenty days of December. If you did not work the full half-year, the amount is prorated by the days worked. Enter your monthly salary and the days worked in the half-year to see the bonus you are owed.
The service bonus has no health or pension contributions: it is a social benefit, not a salary. It is prorated by the days worked in the half-year (based on 360 days per year). If you receive a transport allowance, it must be added to the salary base (not included in this calculation). This is a rough estimate.

How it works
The service bonus is calculated with the formula monthly salary × days worked / 360. A full half-year is 180 days, so it equals half a monthly salary; a full year (360 days) equals one whole monthly salary. For example, with a salary of $3,000,000 and 180 days worked, the bonus is $1,500,000; with 360 days worked, the bonus is $3,000,000. Unlike a salary, the service bonus has no health or pension contribution deductions, because it is a social benefit and not remuneration. If the worker receives a transport allowance, it must be added to the salary base for the calculation.
The prima with the 2026 minimum wage
In 2026 the minimum wage (SMMLV) is $1,750,905 and the transport allowance is $249,095, set by Decrees 1469 and 1470 of 2025. The transport allowance is paid to those earning up to two minimum wages and, although it is not a salary, it is part of the base used to settle the prima. Together they give a base of $2,000,000, with which a full half-year prima works out like this:
| Item | 2026 value (COP) |
|---|---|
| Minimum wage (SMMLV) | $1,750,905 |
| Transport allowance | $249,095 |
| Settlement base | $2,000,000 |
| Half-year prima (180 days) | $1,000,000 |
| Annual prima (360 days) | $2,000,000 |
Prorated prima by days worked
When the half-year is not completed, the prima is prorated with the formula base × days / 360. Using the same base of $2,000,000 (minimum wage plus transport allowance), these are the values by days worked in the half-year:
| Days worked | Prima (base $2,000,000) |
|---|---|
| 30 days | $166,667 |
| 60 days | $333,333 |
| 90 days | $500,000 |
| 120 days | $666,667 |
| 150 days | $833,333 |
| 180 days | $1,000,000 |

Preguntas frecuentes
- What is the service bonus (prima de servicios)?
- The service bonus is a mandatory social benefit in Colombia equal to one full monthly salary per year worked: half a salary for each half-year. It is a right of every dependent worker and does not depend on the company's profits.
- How is the service bonus calculated?
- It is calculated with the formula monthly salary × days worked / 360. A full half-year is 180 days (half a salary) and a full year is 360 days (one whole salary). For example, with a salary of $3,000,000 and 180 days worked, the bonus is $1,500,000.
- When is the service bonus paid?
- It is paid in two installments per year: the first no later than June 30 and the second within the first twenty days of December. Each installment covers the bonus for its respective half-year.
- Does the service bonus have health and pension deductions?
- No. The service bonus is a social benefit, not a salary, so it is not subject to health or pension contributions. The worker receives the full amount, with no social security deductions.
- What if I did not work the full half-year?
- The bonus is prorated by the days worked. If, for example, you worked 90 of the 180 days of the half-year, you get half of the bonus you would earn for the full half-year. The calculator applies that proration automatically.
