How it works
The number of installments is set by the months worked and the request number. A 1st request needs at least 12 months (4 installments) or 24 months (5 installments); a 2nd request needs 9 months (3 installments); from the 3rd on, 6 months (3 installments). The value of each installment is calculated from the average of your last three salaries in bands: up to R$2,222.17 it is multiplied by 0.8; between R$2,222.18 and R$3,703.99 the amount over R$2,222.17 is multiplied by 0.5 and added to R$1,777.74; above R$3,703.99 the cap of R$2,518.65 applies. No value can be below the minimum wage of R$1,621.
Installment value bands in 2026
The seguro-desemprego table was readjusted in January 2026 with the 2025 INPC (3.90%). The value of each installment comes from the average of your last three salaries applied in bands, with a floor equal to the minimum wage (R$1,621) and a cap of R$2,518.65:

How many installments you are entitled to
The number of installments depends on the months worked in the last 36 and how many times you have claimed the benefit. To qualify, the dismissal must be without just cause and you must have no income of your own to support yourself nor receive another continuous Social Security benefit. This is the Ministry of Labour rule:

- What if I worked only a few months?
- If you do not reach the minimum number of months required for your request number, you are not entitled to the benefit for that request and the calculator will show zero installments.
