Countdown Calculator
This countdown calculator tells you exactly how much time is left until a future date, broken down into years, months, and days. Choose your target — a holiday, birthday, wedding, exam, product launch, or any deadline — and instantly see how far away it is. On top of the breakdown, it converts the remaining time into total days, weeks, and hours, so you can track a milestone at whatever level of detail you need. If the date has already passed, it lets you know, and if it is today, it says so too.
Time left
In days
In weeks
In hours
The countdown is calculated using the Gregorian calendar, accounting for leap years. Totals in weeks are rounded down and hours assume whole days.

How it works
The calculator starts from today at midnight and measures the distance to your target date using the Gregorian calendar. It first works out the difference in whole years, then months, then days, "borrowing" from the previous unit whenever the day or month of the target date is smaller than today's — the same way you subtract by hand. Leap years and the different lengths of each month are handled automatically. The total in days is the raw number of calendar days between today and the target; the weeks and hours are derived from that figure, with weeks rounded down and hours assuming twenty-four-hour days.
What a countdown is used for
Counting the days to a date helps you plan and look forward to almost any milestone: a holiday, an exam or a deadline, a product launch, a wedding, a birth, retirement or the end of a contract. Seeing the remaining time in days, weeks and months at once lets you plan the steps beforehand — booking, studying, saving or preparing — with a clear horizon instead of an abstract date on the calendar.
How many days are left, in weeks and months
A raw number of days is easier to grasp when translated into weeks (dividing by 7) and months (dividing by 30.44, the average number of days per month). The table below shows the equivalences for some typical spans. They are approximate, because not every month has the same number of days.
| Days | Weeks (approx.) | Months (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | 4.3 | 1 |
| 90 | 12.9 | 3 |
| 180 | 25.7 | 6 |
| 365 | 52.1 | 12 |

Preguntas frecuentes
- How does the countdown calculator work?
- You pick a target date, and the calculator measures the time from today until that date. It shows the result as a breakdown of years, months, and days, and also converts it into total days, weeks, and hours. The calculation uses real calendar dates, so month lengths and leap years are handled automatically.
- What happens if the date has already passed?
- If the target date is earlier than today, the calculator tells you that the date has already passed instead of showing a countdown. If you want to know how much time has elapsed since a past date, use a date-difference calculator instead.
- Why does the breakdown in years and months not match the total days divided by 365?
- Months and years have different lengths, so a fixed 365-day year is only an approximation. The year-month-day breakdown counts actual calendar units, while the total in days is the exact number of days between the two dates. Both are correct; they just express the same span in different ways.
- Can I count down to a birthday, holiday, or wedding?
- Yes. Any future date works — a birthday, public holiday, wedding, exam, trip, product launch, or personal deadline. Just enter the date and the calculator shows how long is left, down to the day.
- Does the countdown account for leap years?
- Yes. Because the calculation is based on real calendar dates, February 29 in leap years is included automatically. The total number of days always reflects the actual days between today and your target, whether or not a leap day falls in between.
