EULERCALC

Hourly to Annual Salary Calculator

Whether you are comparing a job offer, negotiating a raise, or budgeting as a freelancer, it helps to see the same pay expressed by the hour and by the year. This calculator converts an hourly wage into its annual, monthly and weekly equivalent, and also works in reverse, turning an annual salary back into an hourly rate. You choose how many hours you work per week and how many weeks you work per year.

This is the gross salary. It does not account for taxes or deductions.

How it works

Total worked hours per year = hours per week × weeks per year. Hourly to annual: annual = hourly × total hours; monthly = annual / 12; weekly = annual / weeks per year. Annual to hourly: hourly = annual / total hours. Worked example: you earn $15 per hour and work 40 hours per week. Counting all 52 weeks, total hours are 40 × 52 = 2,080 and the gross annual salary is 15 × 2,080 = $31,200 — that is $2,600 per month and $600 per week. Now the real-weeks nuance: if you take 4 weeks of unpaid time off, you work 48 weeks, hours drop to 1,920 and the annual falls to $28,800 — $2,400 less. To compare offers honestly, set the weeks per year to the ones you will actually work.

Hourly pay to annual salary: reference table

With a standard 40-hour week across all 52 weeks of the year (2,080 hours), each hourly rate maps to the gross annual salary below. If you work fewer weeks or part-time, multiply your hourly rate by your real hours for the year.

$10$20,800
$12$24,960
$15$31,200
$18$37,440
$20$41,600
$25$52,000

Preguntas frecuentes

How do I convert an hourly wage to an annual salary?
Multiply your hourly pay by the number of hours you work per week, then by the number of weeks you work per year. For example, $20/hour × 40 hours × 52 weeks = $41,600 per year.
How many hours are there in a work year?
The most common assumption is 40 hours per week × 52 weeks = 2,080 hours per year. If you take unpaid time off, lower the weeks per year (for example, 50 weeks gives 2,000 hours).
How do I convert an annual salary to an hourly rate?
Divide the annual salary by the total hours worked in a year. For a $41,600 salary at 2,080 hours, the hourly rate is 41,600 / 2,080 = $20 per hour.
How is the monthly figure calculated?
The monthly amount is simply the annual salary divided by 12, regardless of how many days are in each month. A $41,600 annual salary is about $3,466.67 per month.
Is this the gross or net salary?
It is the gross salary, before taxes, social contributions and other deductions. Your take-home pay will be lower and depends on your country and personal situation.
I work part-time or variable hours — does this still work?
Yes. The conversion does not assume 40 hours: change the "hours per week" field to your real average. At 25 hours per week at $15/hour over 52 weeks, the annual is 15 × 25 × 52 = $19,500. If your hours vary month to month, use the average of recent weeks for a realistic estimate.
Why is the monthly salary not equal to 4 weeks of pay?
Because the average month has 4.33 weeks, not 4. The monthly figure is the annual divided by 12, not the weekly multiplied by 4. With a $41,600 annual salary, the monthly is 41,600 / 12 = $3,466.67, whereas 4 weeks of $800 (40 hours at $20) would give only $3,200. The difference, about $266 per month, comes from those 0.33 extra weeks the average month has. To budget realistically, always use the annual divided by 12, not four weeks.
