Put in the amount, choose which unit you start from and which you head to, and the equivalence comes out at once, both for knowing how many kg the pounds of a suitcase are and for turning the ounces of a recipe into grams.

How it works
The kilogram is the hub of all these conversions: each unit carries a factor stating how many kilos it is worth. Take airline luggage. Many carriers let you check a 50-pound bag, but the counter weighs it in kilos: 50 × 0.45359237 = 22.68 kg, just under the usual 23 kg limit. For a carry-on, 15 pounds are 15 × 0.45359237 = 6.80 kg. Cooking with US recipes works the same way: 2 pounds of flour are 907 g and one ounce of yeast is 28.35 g. The tool multiplies your value by the source unit's factor to bring it to kilograms, then divides by the target unit's factor, so grams, ounces, pounds and stones always line up.
